![]() Sort-of plot hole: The astronaunts didn't understand sooner that no matter what, the governement was going to eliminate them because they would have been too dangerous to keep alive. But from a critical point of view, there are a lot of flaws.Īnd don't worry, what I'll say here doesn't give away the story. In effect, he was saying in so many words that the movie almost wrote itself.īut is it a good movie? For entertainment value, yeah it's great. In an interview, the director openly admitted some of the lines were directly lifted from what the real astronauts actually said on their moon missions, and then changed them slightly to fit his movie. In Capricorn One, they're not going to the moon but rather to Mars, and the whole story of the film is about how the government faked the whole thing, and the astronaut's attempt to escape and not be killed by government agents. As said above, this flick was released in 1978, just a scant 6 years after the last moon mission (Apollo 17) in '72, so the idea of, "Were the moon landings fake?" was still a very fresh idea in the minds of many. This movie is directly inspired from people who firmly believe the Apollo moon landings between 19 never happened. Yeah, there are a few parts where you can totally see 1970s style, but fortunately the story is good enough where that doesn't bother you too much. I wasn't there to steal from anybody. If you like conspiracy theory inspired movies, then this film is definitely one you should watch.Ĭapricorn One is a movie released in June 1978 that surprisingly holds up pretty well even now. ![]() "The only thing I saw that was on display that wasn't mine was some baseballs, and I made it clear to everybody those are not mine. "He told me the names of what he thought were the people in the room, and I realized these are friends of mine. "I said, 'Of course I would like to get the property,'" Simpson told the parole board. "As a perfect storm we all ended up in Las Vegas, you know? I was there for a wedding and the property was there." In 2013, Simpson's bid for a new trial was rejected, but he was granted parole that same year on some of the charges, based on good behavior.īefore the decision was announced, Simpson gave his account of the botched robbery to the parole board, telling the board members how he learned that some "some guys" were trying to "fence" what he said were his personal mementos in Las Vegas. Simpson apologized in court for his actions, saying, "I didn't know I was doing anything illegal. "I can't ignore that the behavior at the time on September 13 was reckless," she added. When you take a gun with you and you take men with you, to show, in a show of force, that's not just a, 'Hey, give me my stuff back.' The potential for harm to occur in that room was tremendous. Glass said of the crime, "That was not a, 'Oh, just give me my stuff back, I want my stuff.' That was, 'Nobody leave the room.' That was actually a very violent event. And during the trial and through this proceeding, I got this answer, and it was both.” Simpson, I didn’t know if he was arrogant or ignorant or both. When he returned to Los Angeles the next day, he was interviewed by police, but not immediately arrested.
